Nasal Naloxone Pizza Lunch and Learns Overdose Response Capacity Through Peer-Led, Low-Barrier Education in Supportive Housing
Angelina McLean; Dr. Rita Henderson
University of Calgary, Cumming School of Medicine
About: This project offered two nasal naloxone Lunch and Learn sessions in Alpha House supportive housing sites, pairing food with low-barrier harm reduction teaching. Residents and staff learned about nasal versus injectable naloxone, shared experiences, and received kits and quick-reference handouts. Strong participation, reduced stigma, and clear preference for nasal delivery showed how peer-centred sessions can strengthen overdose response capacity in housing environments
Reflections on Community Engaged Indigenous Health Research
Angelina McLean
University of Calgary, Cumming School of Medicine
About: Outlines three years of community-engaged Indigenous health research shaped by relationships, ceremony, and shared time. Guided by Elders and community leaders, the work grew through meals, beading, stories, and presence, which influenced the research well before interviews began. The work centres the idea that meaningful engagement is relational, culturally grounded, and continuous, and that these practices strengthen both the research process and its outcomes
